Easy Outdoor Winter Container Garden

DSCN2004I have two heavy, older terra cotta garden pots that I leave outdoors all year by the front door because basically, they are too heavy to move. I like to change the look each season for interest and because they are so easy to change. Winter is probably the easiest arrangement of all to make:DSCN2001This morning when I took my dog Sydney out for a walk, I raided the neighborhood trees and shrubs to get all my supplies:DSCN1990I did get the white branches from my friend- she had a whole bunch of them! so I asked if I could have a few. Since the branches were the tallest, I stuck them in the dirt toward the back of the container:DSCN1994I filled around the back with greens:DSCN1996Then I worked my way around the whole container sticking branches deep into the soil using various greens and a few berries I found, (artificial berries) until it was full enough (I ran out of supplies). I did find some real pinecones:DSCN2001So very easy! Thank goodness it was warm today and the dirt was not frozen. I imagine you could defrost the dirt if it was frozen. Hmmmm…DSCN2004What do you think? You can use any type of pot or container and it can be dressed up or down with bows and ribbons, lights and other Christmas or winter ornaments. No need to water and hopefully should last into January. Simple but pretty! If you need help decorating your home for the Holiday’s, contact me today.I am linking over at Serenity Now today!
